Still summer days

Photographer Brie Williams takes the most exquisite photos. Like these. Love the beauty. The stillness. And the soft, natural colors. Here, I would relax. Here I could recharge my batteries. Where do you go to fill your soul with stillness and recharge?

DIY: Pallet Herb Garden for your Balcony

No garden? But still want to grow your own herbs? Here is the solution: make a kitchen garden out of a pallet! Place it vertically against a sunny wall, not to occupy too much, precious balcony space. Check out the blog Life on the Balcony for detailed instructions. Enjoy!

Magic Midsummer

This is the time to visit Sweden. Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) is celebrating the summer solstice one way or the other. A lone walk in the forest or along the sea shore. With family and friends gardenpartying or dancing round the midsummer pole. Come join us celebrate the longest day of the year. Read more about the midsummer festivities here

Oooops - H&M or by Nord?

Inspiration photo from H&M's 2011 fall collection. Wonder what the designers over at by Nord will say? The likeness to by Nord's pillows are striking. Just compare with their unique design over at my previous post here.

Blogspotting: Kjerstis Lykke

Always inspiring. Always close to nature. If you haven't visited this norwegian blog yet, head over ASAP. This is what Kjersti found on her latest walk along the beach:
Great photos, of the soft anemic kind, which are so popular among bloggers right now. Beautiful!

DIY: Got a stained sofa? Paint on it!

Seeing these pictures of these armchairs while reading Elle Decor online, it struck me: Who hasn't a sofa or chair where "accidents" have seriously change its pristine look??? Try painting it. Not cover it with layers of paint, but paint a nice decor on it (using the right kind of paint, depending on the cover), and give it a second life.
Would you try something similar on your sofa? Armchair?

Amish barn living

While reading the New York Times  today, I found this great article of a couple who eleven years ago bought a farm only 15 minuts from downtown Pittsburgh, USA, and turned it into a relaxing place for their family and friends. The place is full of beautiful spaces and spectacular views. Read the full article here

DIY: Oil Lamp for your summer party

Make lots of them for your garden party this summer. If you don't have the time to make your own, you can buy them at Granit. Via Sköna Hem

DIY: lacy storage and room divider

If you have an Ikea's Expedit shelf as a room divider, you may want to do something about some of the "backs". I love this idea from Seletti. You can do something similar using old lace curtains or crocheted pieces as a semi-transparent back. Do try this at home this summer.

Mini tagines for your table

More from TIne K: this time hand painted mini tangines. Cute. If you use them for salt or sugar, I guess a cork in the top, will  help keep humidity out.

Get the look - Natural Elegance

I love the relaxed feel in this Atlanta home. The grey walls, the soft colors, the natural materials, the artwork. I could move in any day. All pics from the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles.

Industrial Chic + Celadon = Perfect!

In my previous post I confessed (yet again) my love for all things celadon green. It is a special soft green, carefully balancing on the fine edge of being boring and banal or subtle and elegant.
Celadon Green was a rather common color in the 1930s, forties and fifties. Here in the shape of an old chair (from Modern50).

Lovely Linen

Who can resist linen? It may crease easily, but who cares? It just gets more beatiful with each wash. Pure Wabi Sabi. These lovely linens were photograped by Trine Thorsen, who else?

Tine's new shop

Yes, it is soo right. So now. Danish designer Tine K knows how to set the stage to show off her products.

The Tine K Home website now also has a web shop, where you can find these and other products for your summer house. I love the glasses. What's your pick?

Great design by Nord

Isn't it great? My new pillow by Nord? I won it a while ago over at the Me and Alice blog. And today it arrived. Lucky me!!

The buffalo pillow is my first item from the talented danish design duo behind by Nord - Hanne Berzant & Hanne Louise Roe Andersen. Their high quality, sustainable products are inspired by our Nordic flora and fauna. I love their design, where the rough and gentle meet. What is your pic? A wolf or a deer? A sheep? An Elk, perhaps?

Söndagkvällar - Swedish summer nights

Hope your weekend is a great one. Sweden has been closed for holidays, since Wednesday. And tomorrow is yet another holiday. The evenings are looooong and warm. These somewhat blurry pics are from previous nights, all taken around 11 pm.
